Building Paths with Website Optimization

Website optimization is a crucial component of modern marketing strategies. There are countless potential customers on the Internet currently looking for your products or services. The question is: will they be able to find your site when they start searching? And if they do, will they follow the path from the home page to a completed sale?

Website optimization begins by making your website available to the public. Just having a site isn’t enough. There are thousands and thousands of competing sites out there, and studies have shown that Internet users very rarely look beyond the third page of search results to choose a website. If you’re not on one of those first pages then chances are those potential customers will never find you and never visit your site.

The first part of website optimization, then, is centered on climbing the search engine rankings where customers will see you. After all, your customers cannot start down the path to a transaction if they don’t even know where the path begins.

There are many steps involved with optimizing a site for the search engines. Keyword optimized content must be developed; the right titles, meta-tags, and headings must be employed; and various link building activities need to be pursued. All of this will make your site more appealing to the search engines and help you establish a position on the first pages.
